Intrepid Museum
Virtual Astronomy Live

EXPLORING ASTRONAUT PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART

PAST EVENT

Thursday, July 16

5:00PM to 7:00PM EDT

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will present a Virtual Astronomy Live program on Thursday, July 16 from 5:30PM to 7:00 p.m. EST. This free event will explore the experiences of astronauts and how their extraordinary voyages in space can kindle creative expression. Many astronauts have been inspired to use art and photography to convey the sense of wonder they feel when they look down on our home planet.

NASA astronaut Donald R. Pettit, along with Andrea Meado, a geoscientist for the Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit at NASA Johnson Space Center, will share their experiences with artistry inspired by space.

The event is suitable for all ages. For more information and to register, visit www.intrepidmuseum.org.

This is the fourth in a monthly series of Virtual Astronomy Live programs. The next iteration on August 20 will feature Spaceflight and Gaming.

The Intrepid Museum’s Virtual Astronomy Live is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. The Intrepid Museum’s Virtual Astronomy Live is also generously supported by New York Space Grant Consortium.

The event is hosted and co-produced by John “Das” Galloway, founder of the Kerbal Space Academy, and moderated by Summer Ash, an astrophysicist, rocket scientist and freelance writer.
