Preparing for Launch: Assembling the Artemis Rocket

Past EVENT

Thursday, February 18, 2021

5:30 PM EST

Exploration Ground Systems is based at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. EGS was established to develop and operate the systems and facilities necessary to process and launch rockets and spacecraft during assembly, transport and launch. EGS’s mission is to transform the center from a historically government-only launch complex to a spaceport that can handle several different kinds of spacecraft and rockets—both government and commercial.  Hear from Engineer Abdiel Santos Galindo as he talks about the Artemis 1 rocket assembly and takes visitors on a virtual tour of how the rocket is being built.

A pre-show will take place at 5:00pm EST with an interactive origami rocket folding demonstration, from Intrepid Museum Educator and Lead Teaching Artist, Elysia Segal.

The event is hosted and co-produced by John “Das” Galloway, founder of the Kerbal Space Academy.
